I was having dinner with my Mom and Dad last night and they asked me why I’m going to Europe in a few weeks, what is the true reason?

Are my motives wrong in going there?

In 1995 I got this notion about going to Taiwan… and if I hadn’t gone on that trip my daughters would not exist today.

My life would be drastically different.

Claire and Grace are my greatest blessings, my girls are angels on earth, really.

Of course, Taiwan in 1995 is very different from Ukraine in 2022…

I’ve been praying a whole lot in the past few weeks since I bought my plane ticket…

I’ve been thinking about why I’m here, as a man.

I have to do this trip, or I can’t look myself in the eye.

Even if I’m only cooking food for refugees in a Red Cross camp, far over the Polish border… I have to go.

Maybe this is my small expression of LOVE for people I haven’t even met yet.

Perhaps our main purpose is to LOVE others; our family, our friends, the Ukrainian people, even the Russian soldiers being coerced into fighting.

After all we’re all just a speck of dust in the swirling maelstrom of history.

I have NO IDEA what will happen in the next 90 days, I’m putting myself in God’s hands here.

I’m trusting HIM that this is the path I should be on.

He is with me, in all things, especially now.

Nothing more, nothing less.
